The Re-Birth of Windigo!

Windigo, an Admiral 38 Catamaran that was for Sale! Windigo has been reborn! This listing of mine probably attracted more interest than any listing that I have ever had do to her age, size and price given Catamarans for sale. Here is the sales video that I had done a while ago. Windigo, as She Was!

Now, Windigo did sell and she was sold to a lovely couple out of Arkansas by the Name of the Goodson's. That's Albert, and That is "Charla". Had a desire to live the cruising lifestyle! She had been passed up by many folks simply because of the unknown of a project. For Albert, that was just what he needed given the budget they had established and the size of Catamaran that he knew that they needed. In fact, Albert left the choice to Charla as it was what boat to choose and after seeing Windigo, an agreement was made to set the plan in motion!

Albert, took the challenge, he did not fret over the what needed to be done. Tackled it and over the next eight months began to learn to sail her, yes learn to sail her, as large cruising catamarans were not from his past and began to address what needed to done. They knew that they need to stay within a budget. Sails were purchased used, Bimini hard tops were from materials out of the trucking after market products, wiring, plumbing, refrigeration, some new items some used. What Albert did not feel comfortable with, the marine resources of St Augustine's quality Marine Services have assisted in getting it right. Solar Panels have been added that now can produce 15 Amps of power enough to keep most of the systems running without having to look to a generator for assistance. The list goes on, and is extensive, done on a budget but proves that you do not have to spend tens of thousands of dollars to re-fit a Cat.

Charla was not just sitting around watching Albert tackle the tasks, a sewing machine and a bit of creativity were just some of her additions besides a bit of sweat equity in deep cleaning a rather neglected interior. I was very surprised when I saw the counter tops not ripped out and replaced with expensive materials, but creatively painted surfaces with materials from Home Depot. Charla chased down the right carpenters from St Augustine Florida, local talent, who added a little storage and finish to her interior.

I could go on about what a bit of American Ingenuity and Dream to go sailing can do, I do have to say that it is with Pride that I can say that I assisted in selling these folks that vehicle to accompish that dream.

I do ask all of you in the cruising community this year and hopefully for many more, to take the time to meet Albert and Charla, as they are wonderful people always willing to lend a hand, you will be better for it as I am. Fair winds and Happy Sailing! John Anderson, you can always find me just about anytime 954-821-6450 email? john.anderson@catamarans.com

First News! New Lagoon 39 Catamaran for Sale 2013

6/30/2013 Here is a Great Video!

1/29/2013 NEWS RELEASE: I had the opportunity to visit the new Lagoon 39 Catamaran for Sale Stateside as she is being prepared for the Miami Boat Show Catamarans USA!! This is no Lagoon 380! I tried to visualize the 380 as I was exploring this new machine, it really is a completely New CAT from the Lagoon Design Team.

The Panoramic view from the main saloon is stricking, galley space a top loading refer along with a side loading, much better treatment of the Navigation Station.

The 380 will always be special but look out for the new entry! Let me show her to you in Miami! Best, John Anderson

1/25/2013 NEWS RELEASE: US Stateside Debut Miami Boat Show 2013. The new Lagoon 39 along with the New Lagoon 400 S2, and the New Lagoon 52 will be on display at the Miami Boat Show CLICK FOR DETAILS!

11/14/2012 News Release from Lagoon France: The new Lagoon 39 : the new Lagoon generation in 39’ Lagoon Catamarans for Sale, The Catamaran Company St Augustine FL Florida USA

An assertive personality
The new Lagoon 39 fits between the Landmark  Lagoon 380 and the new S2 version of the Lagoon 400. However her design follows with the new Lagoon 52 apparent on first sight: vertical, bevelled bows, aerial cabintop above the deck, and abaft positioned mast for sailing performance and ease of handling… a strong character indeed!

VPLP’s touch goes far beyond all this: the simple, efficient deck layout allows to control the main maneuvers from the steering station, the wide side decks are safe and uncluttered and the stern platforms are designed for an easy, protected boarding.

As for the cockpit, it will certainly serve as a reference in terms of comfort and protection: a wide transversal gangway aft, a dining table to port and settees to starboard, with a direct access to the steering station either from the cockpit or from the deck.

Inside An efficient use of space obviously ranks among the top priorities when developing a 39’ cruising catamaran. In this regard, the Nauta Design office and Lagoon R and D choices combine inventiveness and elegance.

Last but not least, if the Lagoon 39 is available in 3 and 4 cabin layout versions like most catamarans her size? She will also be offered in a 2 cabin version, which means the equivalent of an owner’s suite in each hull with king size bed, desk, bathroom… After the Lagoon 400 S2 and the Lagoon 52, a third new Lagoon model will be presented at the coming Paris and Düsseldorf boat shows.

Flying Feather! an Iroquois Catamaran for Sale!

This 1968/2011 Iroquois Sea Craft 30' Catamaran for Sale is located here in Daytona Florida FL USA.  As you will note she has been completely renovated and is ready to go sailing! She is priced to reflect the cost of her renovation of which the seller will not see all that is invested. Her asking price of 69K USD is negotiable Further photos can be found http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gLzoGH69Fo&feature=channel&list=UL

The Iroquois Mk I is a Fast Cruising Catamaran for sale described as being very seaworthy and capable of speeds exceeding 18 knots in moderate winds. They are also renowned for being easy to handle; one article at the time described them as being able to come about like a dinghy. This is a vessel that is easy to sail, gives a good performance and is very seaworthy

Flying Feather is the finest example of an Iroquois MK 1 as she underwent a Major renovation from 2009 to 2011 while the vessel was out of the water in a shipyard. Much of the equipment and sails purchased in 2009 thus were never used until launching late last year.

While in the yard repair included but were not limited to: Removed balsa core foredeck, cockpit, sections of cabin roof replaced with Corecell, bi-axial and vinyl-ester resin. All original gel coat ground down to original mat for inspection. All legacy repairs and stress areas re-glasses and reinforced. Special attention applied to center board reinforcing, beam tabs and deck joints. Gel coat re-applied, ground and polished. No slip areas contoured around fittings and hatches for appearance. All deck hardware and hatch hardware 316 S/S New Centerboard from ½ aluminum plate, Delrin bearing assemblies, and S/S pivot pins, Epoxy barrier and aluminum bottom paint 2012. Custom zincs replaceable underwater, Centerboards fabricated to be removable from deck above. Mast height approx.. 40ft above water. Mast tabernacle allows mast to pivot forward. Since launching and behind the owners home, further upgrades and improvements have been accomplished on an going basis.

AUGUST 1ST 2012 an in the water survey was accomplished by Accurate Marine Surveys Inc. to verify the workmanship and general condition of this vessel. This survey is available to prospective buyers. Though the owner will never receive the value back for the extent of the re-fit, the seller is pragmatic and is open to offers. This is a must see to appreciate Catamaran for those looking an affordable fast cruising Cat.

Presentation

The Lagoon 52, the latest model developed by the world's leading builder of cruising catamarans, marks a whole new era in the design of such boats, as indeed did its predecessor, the famed Lagoon 500.

With its diamond-shaped vertical bows, bevelled hulls, its as if levitated deckhouse and tall rig, the Lagoon 52 is no ordinary catamaran, but its originality goes a great deal further than just its "outer" appearance, or even its interior layout.

This new Lagoon is the result of lengthy discussions between the architects at Van Peteghem-Lauriot Prévost (VPLP), the Italian Nauta Design agency and the Lagoon design department. These discussions led us to make some important and sometimes radical choices, while remaining faithful to what we believe in, in terms of elegance, comfort, safety, user friendliness and, it goes without saying, performance under sail.

Lagoon 52 : luxurious and contemporary

noble and luxurious materials, with soft shades for a harmonious interior

continuous horizontal and fluent lines give the interior open and generous spaces

continuity between exterior and interior life

a slender exterior design for a boat with a strong character

Lagoon expertise

infusion-moulding for increased weight saving (important for a catamaran), an optimal structure, and greater protection for the environment and shipbuilders

interior woodwork in Alpi® reconstituted wood, a sustainable source

vertical glazing for better protection against the sun and optimal space and headroom

gull-wing bridge deck for greater comfort in heavy seas

wide choice of layouts including 3, 4 or 5 cabins, with respectively 3, 4 or 5 washrooms

VPLP design: performance under sail guaranteed!

Exterior: elegance, comfort and safety

the boat is accessed via open aft transoms, facilitating boarding and disembarking

broad sidedecks, with recessed deck hatches

the cockpit is level with the saloon, and has an outdoor lounge and sun-lounging area to starboard

the fly bridge is reached either by a staircase leading from the cockpit, or by another leading from the deck on the starboard side

the steering station can be adjusted to three different positions (starboard, centre or port), giving the skipper perfect visibility under sail or when manoeuvring

Rigging: performance and user-friendliness

The decision to locate the mast further to aft directly comes from the designers' racing experience and has many advantages on a cruising catamaran:

a large forward triangle allows a larger sails choice: a promise for great performance

the shorter boom makes the mainsail much easier to maneuver

the mainsail, which is relatively narrower and higher, benefits from better winds at the top, thus enhancing performance

by re-centering the weight in this way, pitching is considerably reduced

Interiors: comfort, space, light

the saloon encompasses the lounge and dining table to starboard, a large galley to port which gives on directly to the cockpit to form a large 'L', together with the chart table in the middle, facing out to sea.

all the cabins have large double beds, storage space in keeping with the offshore sailing program of the boat and, of course, an en-suite bathroom with separate shower

the cabins have incomparable natural lighting thanks to the fixed hull windows, together with excellent ventilation thanks to the deck hatches and portholes that open out to the hull-side or to the cockpit.
